[CRU] opens a space in Madrid for video art and digital art called OBLIQUO.

OPEN CALL: VERTICAL SCREEN VIDEO ART PROJECTS
INSCRIPTION
1. OBJECTIVE OF THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The purpose of this call is to encourage the production and exhibition of video art and digital art projects specifically conceived for the vertical format (aspect ratio 9:16). We invite visual artists, collectives and audiovisual creators to present innovative works that explore this format from aesthetic, narrative and conceptual perspectives.
2. PARTICIPANTS
Artists of legal age of any nationality may participate, both individually and collectively. Each participant or collective may submit only one project.
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR PROJECTS
The works must be conceived to be projected in vertical format (aspect ratio 9:16) and have a minimum quality of FullHD, preferably 4K.
Allowed techniques: video art, animation, digital collage, experimental video and cienma, generative and interactive pieces and other audiovisual media. Also instalation for the showcase of 320x181cms. There is a montor of 85″ inside that you have to use.
Works in any language will be accepted, but those with text or dialogue must include subtitles in Spanish or be presented in the first phase in English and translated into Spanish for the exhibition.
4. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
Applicants must send
Link to the video (on platforms such as Vimeo, YouTube, Drive, with password if applicable).
Description of the project (maximum 300 words).
Still image of the project (minimum resolution 1080x1920px).
5. SELECTION PROCESS
A committee of jurors, experts in contemporary art and audiovisual media, will evaluate the proposals according to the following criteria:
Innovation and originality in the use of the vertical format.
Technical and aesthetic quality.
Conceptual coherence.
Visual and narrative impact.
6. IMPORTANT DATES
We have open the call all the year for new projects.
Exhibition of works: [an exhibition in the OBLIQUO space lasting approximately 1 month].
7. GENERAL CONDITIONS
The copyright will remain with the artists. However, the organisers reserve the right to use fragments or images of the selected works for promotional purposes of the call and exhibition.
Registration to this call for entries implies the acceptance of these rules.
The organisers cannot be held responsible for any claims related to the rights of third parties on the works presented.
The organisation will pay a fee to the selected projects, provided that if has financial support to do so.
