OBLIQUO once again collaborates with PROYECTOR to present the works selected for VERTICAL <25 2026, an open call dedicated to young video artists under the age of 25. The exhibition and event are curated by Rebeca M. Urizar and presented with the support of PROYECTOR.

For the second consecutive year, OBLIQUO opens its programme to a new generation of artists, providing a specific space in which to experiment with moving image and, in particular, the vertical format. This edition also marks a significant moment for the project, as it forms part of the beginning of OBLIQUO’s new chapter in Carabanchel, one of Madrid’s most active centres for contemporary artistic production.

VERTICAL <25 was conceived as a platform to give visibility to young artists working with video, experimental film, animation and new audiovisual forms. The open call invites artists to consider the vertical format not simply as a consequence of mobile screens and social media, but as a language with its own spatial, narrative and perceptual possibilities.

During the event, we will screen a selection of 30-second excerpts from the works submitted to the 2026 open call, offering an overview of the wide range of proposals received. The selected works will then be presented, followed by the announcement of the piece chosen by the jury La Llave Colectiva.

The event thus offers a collective insight into the work of a generation that has grown up producing and consuming images through vertical devices, and which is now bringing this visual language into the fields of contemporary art and audiovisual experimentation.
