Presentation of PROYECTOR’s Vertical <25 project. Awards ceremony and screening of vertical videos.
On 13 September, the 18th edition of the PROYECTOR Festival will host a very special event to present the works submitted to the Vertical <25 competition.
This year, we launched the THIRD #ProyectorVERTICAL25 call for entries for young artists. On 13 September 2025, the videos submitted to this call for entries will be screened and the winner will be announced.
The artist Petra Montoro has been the winner and she will be eligible for a 15-day artist residency in Spain in 2025, with £3,000. Their work will not only be exhibited at the next edition of the PROYECTOR Festival, but will also form part of the Hertzog Da Silva Collection, which is promoting this initiative.

Work! intervenes in a seminal work of analogue cinematography, La Sortie de l’usine Lumière à Lyon (Louis Lumière, 1895), with the aim of transforming the working body into a sign and its movement into dissolution. The image, now fragmented, is recomposed in its entirety through the repetition of the character set ‘WØ®K/’ in ASCII format.
Accompanied by Harun Farocki’s reflection in Workers Leaving the Factory (1995), the piece ends with an inversion of the original shot; an operation that returns the fragmented image of the workers to the factory as a symbolic evaporation of the recognisable figure of the worker in contemporary times. What form does industrialisation take when its images no longer generate continuity?
Petra Montoro
Petra Montoro is a transmedia artist and researcher who focuses her work on exploring sculpture as a tool for the discursive expansion of the digital image. Her current research encompasses a critical analysis of post-industrialisation from the intersection between biology and architecture.
She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (2021) and a Master’s degree in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies from Pompeu Fabra University (2023). She presented her first solo exhibition, Drift Echoes, at the Parque de la España Industrial (Barcelona, 2024) and is currently collaborating with Espacio Nenúfar on the group exhibition Neo-afloramientos (Madrid, 2025). She has worked with Librería Contrabandos (Madrid, 2025) directing a workshop and collective work on Vinciane Despret’s ‘Habitar como un pájaro’ (Living like a bird). She managed the artistic production of ‘EPSN’ for TheGATE and Manifiesta15 (Barcelona, 2024) and has participated in group exhibitions such as Festival Íntima at La Casa Encendida (2023).
